Our team is providing comprehensive structural engineering design services for two Detached Accessory Dwelling Units (DADUs) in Tacoma, Washington. The project includes full gravity and lateral system design in accordance with applicable Washington State and City of Tacoma requirements.
The structural scope covers gravity load analysis for the DADUs, including roof decks and garages, along with the design of lateral force-resisting systems, foundations, slabs, and load transfer to soil. Special attention is given to the structural design of roof deck framing, guardrails, and supporting elements to ensure safety and code compliance.
Deliverables include permit-ready structural drawings such as foundation plans and details, floor and roof framing plans, roof deck framing, lateral system layouts with shear walls and holdowns, and comprehensive structural notes and typical details.
This project highlights our experience in urban residential infill and ADU structural design, delivering efficient, constructible, and code-compliant solutions.
