The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the house, and as such, remodelling it can be a complex task. From redesigning the layout and picking the colour scheme to fitting new appliances and re-routing pipes and electrical outlets, it’s a big job, and it’ll take some time to figure out exactly how to go about it.
As is the case with any sizable project, it’s typically best to break things down into individual segments and tackle them one at a time, and a kitchen remodel can be split into three key sections.
First, there’s the planning and design phase. This is where you’ll work with your builders and designers to figure out what will work best for the space you have, and exactly what sort of features are must-haves and which are just nice-to-haves. This phase typically takes the longest (usually a few months).
Then comes removing the old kitchen to make way for the new one. This can be a relatively messy demolition job, but your builders will do their best to make as little mess and general disruption as possible. You can expect this part to take around four to six weeks.
Finally, you’ve got the installation of the new kitchen and any finishing touches, and this stage will usually last around four to six weeks, too.
